20 year old man was killed under police custody June 19th 2004. A protective hood was placed over his face to prevent the officer from getting spit on. The hood led to his death a short while after.

Matt Sheridan, a 20 year old man from Mequon, was killed this past saturday under police custody. On the way to the station, while matt was in the back of the police car, he supposedly started spitting on the police officer. The Genius cop decides to place a device that is clearly marked for chemical or biological environments. These masks were given to thousands of officers after 9-11. The Officer, whos name is not being released, thought it was a spit bag. AN OFFICER MISREAD THE CLEARLY MARKED GAS MASK AS A SPIT BAG! The official name for these masks are SURVIVAIR Quick2000 escape hood respirator, This police officer was not by himself either. There were other cops from surrounding areas that were at the scene. Where were these officers brains? The only information i have on this case is gathered from the milwaukee journal. This is a serious issue that does not have enough coverage. Something needs to be done about this. If anyone wants to get together and bring "justice" to this man write me. Matt deserves more.

How quickly can we organize a demonstration outside the Mequon PD? Is anyone interested in this or another sort of action?

questions
25.06.2004 - 18:29
Why did the cop know the difference between a spit guard and a high quality gas mask?
Why did, (according to two Journal Sentinal articles), it take so long to get Sheridan to the police station? He was arrested in Mequon at 5:50 but didn't get to the police station, only a few miles away, until 6:41. This is almost an hour later.
Why has the police station not released the name of the police officer responsible?
Why is there no coverage of this issue? It would get far more attention if some mother or father did this to thier child, but when a cop does it, its permissible.

Responsibility

If you don't want the law to come after in any way, shape or form simply abide by it. This would have been avoided if he wasn't put in cuffs in the first place.
