This live photography project urges the model, photographer, and spectator to pose, direct, and push a camera’s buttons in the space of a feminist bookstore. Wise up to the effects of multiple hands on a camera! This is an opportunity to collaboratively explore subject-artist-audience relationships, their assumed boundaries and hierarchies, and the muddling dynamics of consent. Additionally, this project invites a close examination of race and gender inequalities in conventional pinup photography. Come out of the woods; witness and participate in this effort to queer the “how to,” the “photograph,” and the “women.”
